Celebrating Academic Milestones 2018-2019

As the school year nears its close, we look back at the many successes and milestones our students have achieved over the course of the school year.

In November, 2018 Citlali Martinez Moreno was recognized as the Kawanis Club Student of the Month.

In January, Rhys Ana Savering was recognized as the winner of the Tech4Innovations Scholastic contest for her STEM solution concept to solve real world problems.

In March, Ryan Crawford and Gavin Maxey, having proven themselves to be the school’s top spellers, competed in the city-wide spelling bee. Ryan Crawford placed 1st at the city level and will advance to the SCRIPTS national spelling bee for the third consecutive year. Gavin Maxey placed 3rd in the city-wide Bee.

In April, students who had passed the qualifying rounds for the National History Bee traveled to Richmond Virginia to compete at the regional level. In Richmond, 5th grader, Gavin Glover, placed first in 5th grade and under division. Ryan Crawford placed 3rd in 8th grade division. All SHCS students who participated will advance to the National History Bee in Chicago.

For the Geography Bee, 8th grader, Antoni Matczak will advance to nationals and Ryan Crawford will advance to both national and international competition.
