Student life

Sacred Heart Catholic School provides an After School childcare program for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. This extended care program requires an additional fee and is offered from 3:15 to 5:30 p.m. each full academic day. Students have homework time and snack time. Additional time is spent building friendships with fellow students, playing games, and playing outside (weather permitting).

Sacred Heart Catholic School stands with the local community in times of compassion and in times of need. Community involvement is a key tenet of our Mission Statement and for our Christian service. All students participate in various events with the community. Community involvement shows our students that even the smallest of us can make a difference and have a big impact.
Sacred Heart middle school students are required to complete two hours of community service per grading period. As the oldest students in the school, their interaction with the community builds empathy in the individual student and expands their awareness of other people and their specific situations.

Sacred Heart Catholic School provides art instruction for student growth and development. The creation of art allows for original thinking and self-expression. The act of creation broadens a student’s educational experience and reinforces the pursuit of excellence.
In the art room, students are taught to develop confidence in their artistic abilities and own unique creative vision.

All Sacred Heart Catholic School students have the opportunity to explore music and music theory. The school’s music education program promotes a range of music style and instruments. Students learn simple rhythm exercises and songs to instruments and singing harmony.
Students at all grade levels sing Solfege exercises, folk songs, and Sacred music. Dance is also used to help our youngest students “internalize” rhythm. Pitched percussion and hand-chimes are played in the upper elementary grades to prepare for playing music with the four octaves of handbells.

Students are required to participate in religion classes that teach the principals of the Catholic faith. The classes are developed to proclaim and teach God’s word to enhance the student’s understanding and appreciation of Catholic tradition.
Prayer is a daily experience for all of Sacred Heart Catholic School. Special prayer services and liturgies are celebrated regularly. Liturgies are celebrated on Wednesday mornings, on holy days, and special occasions. Students take an active part in the preparation and celebration of the liturgies.

Sacred Heart will hopefully have sports back soon! In the meantime, the school hosts an instructional golf league and third party tennis lessons.
